The Japan Information Center is delighted to announce that applications for the 2016 Japanese Government MEXT Research Student Scholarship are now available! This scholarship provides for college graduates to conduct an independent research project at a university in Japan under the supervision of a professor for 18 to 24 months. Any field of study is eligible for the scholarship, but applicants must find a professor at a Japanese university willing to supervise their research.

The Norman Wait Harris Memorial Fund supports conferences, lectures, invited speakers, and other events on international topics at the University of Chicago. All activities funded by this competition must be free and open to the general public. The John K. Fairbank Center for Chinese Studies at Harvard University announces a special fellowship for the 2015-16 academic year for a scholar with expertise in the digital humanities and/or social sciences. The fellow will be expected to pursue his/her own research agenda, to contribute to the development of the Digital China Initiative at the Fairbank Center, and to assist Center faculty, students, and affiliates in the exploitation of digital techniques for research in Chinese studies.
