Eckerd College seeks a part-time Visiting Professor specializing in the history and culture of East Asia. The position requires teaching five courses per year, including the first half of the World History survey, at least one course in modern East Asian history, and other courses to be determined according to the candidate’s specialization. Ph.D. or ABD in history or other appropriate discipline required. The Department of East Asian Studies at New York University invites applications for a one-year position of Visiting Assistant Professor in modern Chinese literature and culture. Appointment will begin September 1, 2014, pending budgetary and administrative approval. Candidates must have completed a Ph.D. by August 2014. The Department seeks a scholar with broad, possibly interdisciplinary intellectual background, who will teach primarily undergraduate courses on modern Chinese literary and cultural texts and theoretical approaches.  Application must include a letter of application, curriculum vitae, and three references. The search committee will begin reviewing applications on April 14, 2014, and will continue until the position is filled.
