Shadow Puppet Arts Workshop for UChicago Students

Nori Sawa demonstrated innovative shadow puppet techniques using an overhead projector. Students created shadow puppets and performed short skits using demonstrated techniques.

About Nori Sawa

Nori Sawa is originally from Japan but now resides in the Czech Republic, where he has created a large repertoire of performances, including solo silent dramas and colorful shadow plays. His fusion of Japanese and Czech approaches to puppetry results in unique puppets & techniques. He is an instructor of Theater Arts at DAMU, The Academy of Performance Arts in Prague. He has toured and performed in Europe, Japan, and the U.S.  He has received numerous awards for his performances.
