The Center for East Asian Studies (CEAS) welcomes UChicago faculty, students, and student groups (e.g., RSOs, CAS Workshops) to submit proposals for funding and co-sponsorship of programming related to East Asian studies. All proposals are reviewed by CEAS staff and the relevant CEAS Committee (i.e., China, Japan or Korea).
Please keep the following in mind as you consider submitting a proposal to CEAS:
The CEAS annual budgeting process for the next academic year takes place during the late fall and early winter quarters each year (e.g., budgetary planning for AY 2020-2021 takes place from November 2019-January 2020); it is best to PLAN AHEAD and submit proposals during this time frame when considering programming for the following year.
CEAS will consider proposals on a rolling basis, BUT there needs to be enough lead time for planning AND resources available (financial and/or administrative).
In preparing your proposal, please always include complete information about your total budget, other potential sponsors, and the status of funding secured.
- Student proposals must include a letter of support from a CEAS faculty member in order to be considered.
