The University of Chicago is taking additional precautionary steps in light of continued escalation in cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the U.S. and abroad, and further guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Chicago Department of Public Health to reduce the spread of the disease.  On March 10, 2020, the University released new guidance on campus health and safety precautions related to the COVID-19 outbreak.

The University is suspending all non-essential travel and events with more than 100 attendees through April 15, 2020.  In addition, the University is encouraging departments, centers, and programs to postpone on-campus visits to a later date when there may be a lower risk.  The University also announced on March 12, 2020 that it will be moving to remote learning for undergraduate and graduate classes for the entire Spring Quarter of 2020.
