CEAS Announces 2023 CEAS M.A. Thesis Prize in Japan Studies Awardee

The Center for East Asian Studies at the University of Chicago (CEAS) is pleased to announce Simon Lenoe (Master of Arts Program in the Humanities) as the winner of the 2023 CEAS M.A. Thesis Prize in Japan Studies for his thesis entitled "Racialization as Gaze across Languages and Disciplines in the Early Works of Mori Ōgai." Simon is currently in his second year in the Two-Year Language Option in the Master of Arts Program in the Humanities at the University of Chicago.  Upon completing the program, he anticipates on continuing research in a doctoral program in the field of East Asian Languages and Civilizations.

CEAS received strong applications from a variety of disciplines which is also a testament to the caliber of master's work being undertaken at the University of Chicago.
