EALC’s Associate Instructional Professor, Yi-Lu Kuo, Awarded 2024-2025 Cheng & Tsui Professional Development Award

The Center for East Asian Studies congratulates Yi-Lu Kuo (Associate Instructional Professor, Department of East Asian Languages and Civilization) for winning the 2024-2025 Cheng & Tsui Professional Development Award for Teachers of Chinese at the Chinese Language Teachers Association, USA (CLTA) annual conference held in New York City May 9-10, 2025. Her awarding-winning project is titled “A Comprehensive Approach to Developing Chinese Language Skills in Beginning Heritage Learners."

The CLTA administers the Cheng & Tsui Professional Development Award for Teachers of Chinese, which is designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of teachers of Chinese. The award is given to support the attendance of pre-collegiate (including heritage school) and collegiate teachers at Chinese pedagogy training workshops, seminars, conferences, and other in-service learning experiences at local, national, or international levels; and/or to collaborate with a mentor teacher.
